Summary
The Meždre landfill is a public, inter-municipal municipal-waste site near Bosanska Krupa — fenced, surrounded by farmland, and managed by the local utility company. Preliminary testing of soil, taken from both the surface and deeper layers, found several metals above the level at which land is no longer considered clean, while no finding reached the level indicating that cleanup is needed. The terrain is karst and permeable, with no system to collect or treat leachate, so the site is assessed as one that requires further monitoring.

Findings of concern
- In the soil, both at the surface and in the deeper layers, elevated cadmium and nickel were found, above the level at which land is no longer considered clean.
- Cobalt was above that level in part of the soil, including the deeper layers.
- The terrain is karst and permeable, and the site has no system to collect or treat leachate, so rainfall can carry contamination through the fractured rock toward the regional groundwater and the nearby Una river.
Positive findings
- No measured parameter reached the level indicating that cleanup is needed.
- Oil-related pollutants were within limits in every soil sample.
- Pollutants associated with combustion were within limits in every soil sample.
- Copper, lead, zinc, chromium, selenium and molybdenum were within limits in every soil sample.
